Pet First Aid
Our Pet First Aid classes are taught to the level of our audience. The experienced instructor will speak professionally to adults and keep the kids engaged. The "Standard" class is about 3 hours in length and covers animal behavior, pet management, first aid for common injuries, how to recognize a variety of common illnesses, CPR, and how to assist with choking emergencies. The "Pet Emergency Pocket Guide" is included in the "Standard" course.
The "Basics" lessons are scaled back to about 90 minutes and often presented to summer camps for kids, training seminars, and families. A pamphlet of short excerpts is included for the children.
Two publications are used depending on the level of interest and purpose of the class:
The full "Pet First Aid and Disaster Response Guide" is written for the serious and professional pet owner or opreator of a pet shelter. This goes beyond First Aid, and provides guidance for disaster incidents and how to prepare for such eventualities. This booklet may be requested during the class and substituted for the Pocket Guide for an additional $5, or ADDED for $20.
The "Pet Emergency Pocket Guide" is a flipchart, organized for quick reference with tabs including "Emergency", "First Aid", "Dogs", "Cats", "Pocket Pets" and more. This guide is included in the "Standard" course. Additional copies may be requested for the class for $15 each.
The instructor Cassandra is a Veterinary Technician, with many years of experience involving a great variety of animals. Her knowledge far exceeds the required training for this course, making her presentations solidly based on education and experience.
Give her a call and schedule a class, a party, presentation, or regularly scheduled events at your store or facility! We provide the practice animals and equipment.
